another designer i met recently asked if i would be her PR person for her "rock n' roll fashion shows", so of course i said i would be happy to.
someone else, a portland-area writer, contacted me about doing voice-overs/recordings of his "epic science fiction novels".
there's other crazy stuff going on, too. i'm really excited.
When I arrived home, my roommate Mitchell was still very awake and ready to go out and celebrate any excuse, so we hopped through a few bars like Gypsy Lounge and Embers and had a blast. i may have been sighted in various parts of West Portland strutting down the streets in my heels and skirt, practicing my model walk with gusto. "and stop... model box... turn.... turn... touch, and.... go!"
There is an event TODAY from 5pm-7pm at The Nines Hotel called "Nine at The Nines" which will feature designers and sneak peaks of the upcoming Portland Fashion Week. gotta rush to that after following up with that J Jill appointment.

I feel like I have a lot to say and share, but my mind is kind of overwhelmed by it all, so thus going into auto-pilot in a sense. The best news of the day thus far is Comcast came out to install internet in my house, so now I have regular access as I'm accustomed to. Now I can send resumes for job inquiries day and night! This is actually perfect for the week ahead, as the NW is experiencing a heat wave, and temperatures are expected to climb up to 104 F. Its still NOTHING compared to what it felt like in Washington DC this time of year. Oh, its hot, no joke about that, but the humidity is so low, and there's cool breezes coming through here and there, and the trees are so much taller here to provide more shade. Ok Ok, enough about my love for NW climate.
Yes, so, in addition to career-level positions I'm applying for (which are few and far between currently), I'm also applying for just about any lower-paying administrative position that I feel like I can deal with, as well as (gasp!) retail sales positions which is a field I never thought I'd return to once I'd become an office drone. I've sent 100 resumes out this last week, easily. I'm talking to people, joining discussion groups, networking my ass off, and getting myself waist-deep involved in the activities and areas of interest I intend to continue to pursue.
Some kind of loose list that I need to refine:
Spoken-word/Poetry scene: working on it
Pagan/metaphysical/spiritual: in progress, contacts made
Media geeks: working on it, made one contact
DJ/darkwave scene: in progress, attended events, contacts made, ball is in motion
Zine/publication scene: in progress, attended PDX Zine Symposium, need to follow up on/establish more contacts
Radio/Broadcasting: working on it, made one contact
Medical Marijuana Activism: working on it, need to follow up on/establish more contacts
Performance music scene: working on it, need to establish more contacts
Tarot Card Reading services: in progress, established some leads/interest, confirmed a gig scheduled in 3 days...
uhhhhh... there's probably more, and that's got nothing to do with my job search i guess. I mean, it certainly could, but I'm not banking on getting another full-time gig as a Pagan Activist Superstar. That was a sparkling highlight in my career history that last two years, and I cherish them, but understand it couldn't last forever.
OK, so now its time to get offline for a bit, since I have it at my constant disposal in the privacy of my home now (relief!).
Best wishes to all, love and kisses to my friends in DC, and a big ol' Sister-Goddess howl to the moon!
