marijuana is medicine
My friend Aaron Houston is the guest speaker, representing Marijuana Policy Project in this special from this morning's episode of 'The Today Show' on NBC. Aaron is a friend who lives in my neighborhood here in Takoma Park, and he's a great guy, and we've known each other as fellow marijuana activists for several years now. Its so great to not only see my friend on television, but also that this topic was brought up on national television in such a realistic and compassionate way. We are finally making progress in getting through to the general mainstream public about the truth about health issues regarding marijuana, both its medicinal and recreational use.

Must See!

How did I KNOW you'd live in Takoma Park? Its like a little Portland!

I know TP is kinda big, but you might actually know my younger brother. He lives in TP too.

I plan to stay involved in the cause and help protect Oregon's laws. We've still got some work cut out for us here in Maryland, but we made some progress with the House of Delegates this last session.

Oregon Legislature just passed an industrial hemp manufacturing law, which will definitely help the cause. There's been TONS of talk about getting a marijuana bill back on the ballot soon. (But not too soon for you to live here & vote for it, of course!)

Nice. I feel like the core of the issue with recreational use is that there are some definite downsides, but they all can be said about alcohol use as well, and often more so... and marijuana prohibition causes problems very similar to alcohol prohibition in the 20s. I might be repeating what your friend said because my out-of-date laptop isn't able to actually display the video, but anyway, glad to see this debate going mainstream.

Just ran across this article on Blue Oregon (definitely a blog to follow when you get out this way), and I thought you might be interested to see exactly where the debate's at in these parts.
